Haemostasis news
The second Axis-Shield UK Haemostasis symposium was held at our offices in Cambridgeshire. Some excellent speakers – includingDr Roger Luddington, Dr Steve Kitchen and Dr Gary Moore – covered aPCR testing,vWF disease and the rights and wrongs of Lupus testing protocols. Under thelatter, a number of key points were raised:
- Many laboratories are testing inappropriate samples at the expense of the better analysis of clinically important specimens
- Anti β-2 GP 1 is possibly the most clinically significant marker
- Using ratios alone as a screen and not performing confirmations on apparent normals can results in genuine Lupus disease being missed
Copies of the speaker’s presentations areavailable from Sue Younghusband, sue.younghusband@axis-shielduk.com
