Welcome to the seventh e-New Diagnostics newsletter from Axis-Shield UK. This edition is dedicated to healthcare professionals working with patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

 

With the number of COPD case loads expected to rise over the coming years, improving the level of care for sufferers, avoiding related emergency admissions and keeping costs under control, are all high priorities for PCTs everywhere. The handheld i-STAT device is already improving patient management and reducing the number of emergency admissions for patients with COPD in over thirty groups within primary care.

Every time a COPD patient is admitted unexpectedly to hospital, the associated financial impact is £2,337*.
