Afinion joins the Marines
Afinion joins the Marines
The first UK Afinion has been bought by the Royal Marines for use at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines Lympstone in Exeter.
The Royal Marines training is the longest basic infantry training programme of any NATO combat troop and all Royal Marines return to Lympstone many times as they progress through their career
Afinion will be used to monitor the health of trainees during rigorous training programmes. C-reactive protein (CRP) assays, for example, will be used to test for bacterial infection. CRP identifies the presence of inflammation and is a useful diagnostic tool for differentiating between viral and bacterial infections. By carrying out a rapid CRP test, antibiotics can be prescribed where necessary allowing Marines to return to their programme as soon as possible.
